Nançay

Situated two hundred kilometers from Paris between Orléans and Bourges, the village of Nançay tucked around its castle is the second largest town of the department in surface area(10 630ha).

Its 927 inhabitants are dynamic and passionately attached to their town, giving it a certain undefinable flair, a soul of its own.

The village of Nançay in the heart of  Sologne has now become synonymous with radio astronomy, since the installation of the second largest radio telescope in Europe.

The author of the celebrated Grand Meaulnes, Alain Fournier, said in a letter to his friend  Jacques Rivière : “ Nançay is another country, a dream land I come to every year for hunting …”

Nançay is also famous for its sablé cookies, its dozens of shops, open even on weekends, (antique stores, gift shops, reputable art galleries), its golf course, and its multitude of hiking trails.
